Eight-year-old Tristan, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s only Matschie’s tree kangaroo, arrived in 2017 as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan Program. The zoo is a pit stop for the kangaroo, so if a good genetic female match comes available, he’ll be relocated and rehomed with the hopes of procreation. In the meantime, the bachelor is content to live alone and crunch as many elm, cottonwood and willow leaves as he can get his furry mitts on.
