Just a few hours before its debut, the promotional blitz for the anime film The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King has gone into overdrive. On Friday June 16th, the movie will be released in Japanese theaters while its simultaneous worldwide streaming will be handled by Netflix. The latest video posted by the official Netflix Anime YouTube channel offers viewers a glimpse at the opening sequence, with audio options in Japanese, English, Italian, French, Indonesian, German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish.

Previously, the Black Clover television series held the viewers’ attention for its 170 episodes between October 3, 2017 and March 30th, 2021. The series was streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired. Now, the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King anime film is set to be streamed through Netflix worldwide on June 16th, the same day of its Japanese theatrical release. According to Crunchyroll, the story follows two orphans – Yuno, with extraordinary magic powers, and Asta, the only person in the world without a single benefit of magic – who learn that when they reach the age of 15, they each gain a Grimoire, a magical book that enhances its owner’s magical abilities. Asta’s Grimoire holds a unique power of Anti-Magic, which serves to negate and ward off his opponent’s spells. Despite their opposing abilities, they both strive towards a common goal – becoming The Wizard King. There is no room for failure in this grand adventure!
